Sealing the gap between door and floor

Gaps under the door may appear when a new floor is laying and there is no threshold. Such defects require correction.

There are several ways to seal cracks under the door. If the door cannot be moved more low by means of adjustment of its fixture, there are following variants: sticking sealing brush on a door, strengthening of the door using screws, door threshold device or descending rubber sealant on the screws.

Let’s see how to install the sealing tires. It works the following way: at the moment of closing of a door by means of a clamping rod the sealing bar falls, closing a crack. When the door is opened, the sealing bar is automatically raised, not touching the floor. Described device «Dichtomat» (produced by «Athmer») consists of two parts: the mechanism and the sealing strip (it can be of different colors). Its length is 94 cm

Automatic sealing device is mounted on the inside of the door. You must first check whether it has appropriate length, which should be equal to the size of the aperture minus 5 mm.

In accordance with the manufacturer instructions, it should be shortened at least on 130 mm. For trimming of the tire use usual hand saw for metal, sealing rubber is cut off by scissors.

«Dichtomat» should be attached at the closed door, and the standpipe unit should be on the lock side. To sit the bar correctly, you need to put under the bottom two pencils of the same thickness, the edge of the door, through which the plate is screwed. Screw the bar; adjust the screw mechanism, so that the rubber seal reach the floor when the door is closed. Check the position of the screw - the only way to achieve the desired degree of compaction.

The metal bar attach over the tire. Measure the appropriate length and cut off excess by hacksaw.

1. New flooring is smooth and thin. A crack was formed under the door. Gap is closing with the help of an automatic device with movable rubber sealing.

2. Measure the length of the sealing mechanism in accordance with the size of the door.

3. Attach the sealing mechanism using screws.

4. The unprofitable metal bar is latched on the sealing device.

5. Sealing rubber is lowered only when the door is closed.
